Modern drainage requirement for new relief road
An old, unloved golf course at Boorley Green, Southampton, was spectacularly transformed into a modern, sustainable and spacious 1,400 housing development to service the growing demand for home ownership in the local area.
A new relief road was to be constructed to support the already excellent road links which required additional access and drainage solutions.
The builder’s merchant supplying the project made contact with Eccles’ consultation team to discuss the specifications of the job, including clear openings, loading requirements and aesthetics.
The client had specified the desire for fully compliant badging “FW & SW” cast as specified in EN124:2015 as well, so this was a key consideration that would require a fast but cost-effective solution.
We work work alongside suppliers and end-users to the project’s completion
We were quickly able to advise on the best products to satisfy the objective, recommending DU144 (Traffic Flow Hinged Ductile Iron Gully Grate and Frame), DU002 (Double Triangular Cover and Frame) and DU220 (Multiple D/T C&F), all part of the Eccles (Group 4) D400 range.
Manufactured from ductile iron, these units are strong and durable, certified with BS Kitemark EN124-2:2015 for safety and quality standardisation, and are suitable to withstand heavy loads of up to 400kN; ideal for usage by pedestrians and domestic traffic such as cars, vans and lorries.
The D400 range also features our unique SmartGrip TechnologyTM anti-slip tread pattern as standard, designed to provide a high PSRV skid resistance value >70, as well as a three point suspension for non-rock stability.
All parties were delighted with the outcome, particularly the added-value that our consultation team and bespoke designers were able to offer.
