Eccles has recently solved a drainage problem for Salford City Council and contractor Eurovia on their Liverpool Street Corridor Scheme.
Traditional concrete drainage kerbs (Beany Blocks) had been used elsewhere on the project until a major problem arose on a 125m stretch of carriageway.
Fibre Optics and a high voltage cable were discovered and these had been installed within a concrete trench with a concrete slab over them, just 110mm down from the finished road level.
Traditional drainage kerbs simply would not fit within this restricted area!
After conversations between our AquaDeck Division and Highway Engineers from Salford, our high capacity AquaDeck 500mm wide unit was chosen to solve the problem.
At just 190mm deep these units could fit within the limited depth available, providing high capacity continuous surface water drainage along the 125m section of road, without disturbing the trench, fibre optics or the high voltage cable.
With the units in stock we were able to deliver quickly in just a matter of days, avoiding any further costly delays to the project, which the client was delighted with.
