SAFETY AS STANDARD
SmartGrip TechnologyTM has been designed by Eccles to improve road safety,
featuring as standard on our entire range of access covers and frames.
what is smartgrip?
SmartGrip TechnologyTM is an asymmetrical raised pattern top plate for the Eccles range of access covers and frames.
It has been designed with a high multi-directional micro texture to improve stability against aquaplaning.
Micro texture refers to the small-scale texture of the top of the raised pattern (which controls contact between the tyre rubber and the surface of the access cover).
Macro texture refers to the large-scale texture of the cover plate as a whole, due to the raised pattern arrangement.
- INCREASES TRACTION AND CONTACT GRIP
- ENHANCES STABILITY
- PREVENTS AQUAPLANING
- IMPROVES SAFETY FOR ALL ROAD USERS
ENHANCED SKID RESISTANCE
After significant research with our partnered European University, the raised pattern on our SmartGrip TechnologyTM has now been significantly enhanced to provide as standard an enhanced skid resistance exceeding the minimum requirements for high-risk areas of > 0.83kN as specified in DMRB CD534 V 0.1.0 (table 2.6).
The testing process adheres to the procedure outlined in the National Highways’ Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB), as well as the Technical Regulation CD 534 v0.1.0, formally known as Volume 4, Part 5, HA104/09, sub-section 3.4, which details the information pertinent for applications in road safety and infrastructure projects.
